UTILITY SYSTEMS DATABASE DESIGN & MAINTENANCE SERVICES

Overview

Utility GIS Mapping System allows cities or counties to manage their assets while improving quality of customer service. The solutions deployed are critical for various functions of appropriate departments such as document management, work order management, and customer support. The Utility Systems Database development may start with conversion of paper maps and or available digital facility mapping into a geospatial database.

Utility GIS Mapping technology has greatly matured in recent years in terms of the creation of custom GUI, geodatabase interoperability, and interfacing with other system such as CIS/GIS. Our custom Utility GIS software allows pulling of information from the CIS (Customers Information System) directly into the GIS on an automated scheduled basis. This allows the user to view meter and account information through the GIS as well as analyze the system on CIS information without duplicating data input. EMI consortium software is completely customizable through SQL and could be used for as many features as needed. Tools are developed within the software to interface with other data stored in multiple types of database systems such as Access, Txt files, etc. Attributes are collected using GPS and or digital photogrammetric techniques.

The EMI consortium outlines the steps and stages prior to executing any utility systems database design and maintenance projects. Each stage ends by a defined milepost with specific deliverables. The following steps are followed to implement any utility projects:
  • Planning
  • Design
  • Implementation
  • Maintenance
